Anatomy of a Media Arts Lesson: Introduction

Anatomy of a Media Arts Lesson: Introduction

Posted by: San Francisco Film Society

There are three distinct phases of every media arts project: pre-production, production, and post-production.

In the series Anatomy of a Media Arts Lesson Plan, you will find a basic description of a media arts lesson’s components, followed by a list of the elements contained within each production phase. Each of these elements has the potential to become its own unique lesson plan. Consult the Classroom Film Projects section for specific activity suggestions.

Setting measurable learning benchmarks and final project goals will clarify which of these elements should be emphasized while moving through the pre-production, production, and post-production phases of the larger project.

A successful media arts lesson will always contain the following four components:

• Preparation

• Viewing

• Making

• Reflection
