The Kill Team is a feature documentary about a group of US Soldiers in Afghanistan
who lost their moral bearings and murdered innocent civilians. A class screening of the
film may provide a jumping off point to foster serious class discussion about the wars
in Afghanistan and Iraq and modern military culture. It will also prompt students to
examine their own moral grounding in the context of bullying and peer pressure. Taught
in conjunction with this guide, The Kill Team will challenge students to think critically
about psychology and warfare and facilitate further research into related topics such
as moral injury, dehumanization and the human impact of the ongoing conflicts in
Afghanistan and Iraq.
