A Conversation About Media in the Classroom

16mm - memories about cinema

As we are living in the era of digital, it is hard to experience 8 or 16mm film nowadays.
The children in my class may see these from a museum or an art exhibition, but they won't get a chance to touch the real piece in their future..

I brought the bolex 16mm camera and the film workprint to my class two weeks ago and showed them the difference between film and digital. I don't think the class fully understood about a format and a working process.
They just felt the texture of the real film and some really liked it!

Hope they will remember the shabby camera and the beauty of the old film texture from the class, so they can have a broader spectrum for creating their own new art work.
